NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans have sidestepped a contract dispute and a holdout by Taylor Lewan, who will report to training camp on time with the rest of the team’s veterans Wednesday morning.
I reported last night that the sides had swapped proposals Tuesday. It appears there was enough progress and common ground in those discussions for the two-time Pro Bowl left tackle to join the team on time.
Lewan stayed away from the team’s three-day mandatory minicamp in June, indicating his dissatisfaction with his deal. He’s set to play under a fifth-year option worth $9.3 million.
He could have a new deal soon.

His presence is especially important as right tackle Jack Conklin is on PUP, continuing his recovery from a torn ACL suffered in the team’s playoff loss at New England.
The Titans have a redesigned offense and Lewan is a key piece in keeping Marcus Mariota from getting hit and hurt. The athletic left tackle will also be on the move more as the Titans will feature more zone runs, where the tackles have to make solo blocks on the move.
Mike Vrabel and select players are scheduled to speak to the media at 11 a.m. CT.
We don't know how close a deal is, but we do know Lewan scores a major PR victory. Twitter is already loaded with people praising his professionalism and commitment to the team.
