Titans didn't make a single waiver claim, review three surprise undrafted players on the roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cameron Batson (17), Matt Dickerson and Aaron Stinnie did not stand out during Titans' preseason games and all very likely would have cleared waivers leading tospotss on the Titans practice squad.

Not only did the Titans keep all three on their 53-man roster, but Jon Robinson said Monday the team didn’t even put in any waiver claims.

So what the Titans had was better in their eyes to anything that came free elsewhere in the NFL.

It is, at least partially, a testament to the value of time with the team. I wonder too if a team that only had four draft picks and only kept the top three of them worked overtime in seeking to find treasure while mining undrafteds.

Batson, Dickerson and Stinnie won’t define the Titans’ season. Hopefully for the Titans they won’t be called on at all, which would mean the people in front of them are healthy and producing.

“I told all of those guys when I told them that they made the team that nothing was given to them, that they came in here, they seized the opportunity and they earned a position on this team,” Robinson said.

Batson: “He’s tough as nails, provides value as well in both kick and punt return. You get kind of a three-pronged player there is you will with what he can do in the kicking game.”

Stinnie: “Came in here, had played some D-line in the past. Big, strong, good feet for a big guy. Had some raw elements to his game when he first got here but really worked on the technique, took to Keith (Carter) and (Mike Sullivan’s) coaching and he improved."

Dickerson: “A big, strong, powerful guy, can post up tackles, can post up guards. His technique is improving as well. We see upside.”

As far as the Titans' fourth undrafted rookie; Sharif Finch had the sort of preseason that would have made it a big surprise if he didn't stick.
