NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans have eight games left. They'll play to win all eight. We have no idea if they can recover from the issues that ail them to get that done, though DraftKings has it at +130 that they get over 6.5 wins.

I think two games rank as more important than the rest: The two against the Texans.

Amy Adams Strunk may have a solid understanding of the roster issues and be willing to give Mike Vrabel a chance to rebuild the roster with Ran Carthon with another draft and a lot of salary cap money. But the Adams family, Of the Houston area, didn't like the way things ended there and doesn't like the team that replaced the Oilers and got the stadium they couldn't.

That the Texans are an NFL sweetheart at 5-4 with a rookie quarterback a year after a 3-13-1 season must sting, and good showings against them might soften the Titans' poor season.

That's great news for the Titans' bad offensive line, which needs all the help it can get.

It in no way forgives the team's awful job at player assessment and acquisition on the line. But I think he's got a much better chance of surviving back there than Ryan Tannehill did.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mike Vrabel has created quarterback confusion this week, which is his goal.

It;'s worked on the fan base. The question is, has it worked on the Falcons? Vrabel wants Atlanta to spend time preparing for Ryan Tannehill, Will Levis and Malik Willis.

So the coach has left open the possibility of Tannehill playing two weeks after he suffered a high right ankle sprain. If he can't go, Vrabel is talking about going so far as to rotate the two young quarterbacks.

It's a wildly unpopular idea.

One would imagine if the Titans really did that, they'd have stuff built in to feature Levis, more of a pocket passer, and Willis, more of a runner. But Levis said they can both do the same things and it's the same plan for both.

I think we need to reserve judgment. It's fine to hash through all the talk and how things are handled now. But let's see what the Titans actually do before we indict Vrabel's plan.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The sample size is still relatively small. But the Titans, who've traditionally been a very good red-zone offense, are not good inside their opponent's 20-yard-line this season.

They've scored touchdowns on just six of 17 trips into the red zone this year, and the 35.3 percent rate is tied for 29th in the NFL.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nobody likes perpetually injured guys. Kyle Philips' career spans 21 games and he's been available for four.
