He thanked Mike Vrabel for great lessons in leadership, a fantastic opportunity and more, but made it clear he can’t and won’t try to mimic Vrabel’s temperament.

And as he assembles a staff, he;'s going to take his time as Vrabel did.

He seeks matching values but not yes men – a diverse staff, with diversity of thought.

“We don’t want groupthink,” Smith said.
