NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A former player with ties to the agency that represents Derrick Henry tweeted that the Titans' running back is heading to the Eagles in a trade and the internet went crazy the Saturday before the draft.

There’s just one problem.

The Titans and Eagles have had zero conversations about a trade for the running back who’s heading into his eighth season, his last under contract with Tennessee. [Unlocked]

The defending NFC champions let their most productive back, Miles Sanders, leave for Carolina and signed oft-injured Rashaad Penny as a free agent from Seattle. Sanders had 1,269 yards on a 4.9-yard average and 11 rushing TDs.

Philadelphia has the 10th pick in the draft, one spot ahead of Tennessee, as well as the 30th pick. The Eagles got the No. 10 pick in a 2022 trade with New Orleans when the Saints moved up to get Chris Olave.

Some analysts project the Eagles could tab Texas running back Bijan Robinson as their man there, adding a gifted runner and pass catcher to an explosive offense with a dynamic running quarterback in Jalen Hurts and top receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Tennessee is getting younger and aiming to be faster overall. Michael Silver reported after the combine that the Titans were shopping their 29-year old back.

Henry was less of a breakaway threat last season, but on a team with huge injuries that often played from behind and ended on a seven-game losing streak, he still managed a 1,538-yard season, a 4.4-yard average and 13 touchdowns.

Henry has a $16.37 million salary cap number this year, including a $10.5 million base salary.

Last year’s third-down back, Dontrell Hilliard, led the team with four receiving touchdowns, but ended the season on IR with a neck injury and is currently a free agent.

The other Titans running backs are Hassan Haskins, Julius Chestnut and Jonathan Ward.

A third-down back is among their needs as they head into the draft with six picks.
