NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Per Warren Sharp, the Titans had only one tight end on the field for at least 75 percent of their preseason snaps in games against the 49ers, Seahawks and at the Saints.

Still, when they decided on who most deserved spots on their initial 53-man roster, they kept five tight ends: Josh Whyle, Chig Okonkwo, Nick Vannett, David Martin-Robinson and Thomas Odukoya.

That may not hold beyond Wednesday when waiver claims are sorted through. The Titans only have four defensive linemen on their roster in a real trouble spot, as well as four cornerbacks. If they do stick with five into the season, injuries could force a change later.

But five tight ends is not unprecedented.
