NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cam Ward operates with a certain looseness, which helped him climb his way to the top of the 2025 draft and has helped him make some of his best NFL plays.

But it also means his best work is least reliant on the structured mechanics he needs as a foundation to push his game forward in the chaos that comes at a pro quarterback regularly.

So while a certain comfort and confidence that he can get difficult things done without textbook footwork or an ideal arm angle in a given situation can help him make a great play, it

can also pull his game down and contribute to overall problems on simpler plays where he strays from the basics.

How he finds the right midground there may tell the story of his career, and how much progress he makes in the Titans’ remaining nine games of his rookie season is in many ways the story of the rest of the team’s 2024 season.
