NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a Mike Mularkey-era version of the Titans’ training room, painted in capital letters above six training tables and two flat-screen TVs read the words: “DURABILITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ABILITY.”

That's gone now.

I always thought it was quite an overstatement. Availability is super important, of course. And sure, your talent doesn't matter if you can't hit the field. But those words stuck with me, making me feel as if there was an overvaluation of the mediocre player who could stay healthy.

Still driving the point home to a roster wasn’t a terrible thing: We need you out there.

Only 19 players played all 17 games for the Titans in 2024, 12 in 2023, 13 in 2022.

As the Titans have added eight players in free agency, one major theme has emerged, taken right off that wall from nearly a decade ago:

Durability.
