NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans are skipping past a first-round Zoom meeting with 49ers defensive coordinator and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh and having him in for a Monday interview along with Matt Nagy on Monday.
The team could be in contract with it's choice before the day is over.
If Jeff Hafley makes it out of Miami, he is slated to meet with Tennessee on Tuesday.
Word is Mike Borgonzi was impressed enough with Saleh based on the Titans' research to accelerate the process and get Saleh to Nashville as soon as possible.
Monday is the first day coaches employed by teams are allowed to interview in person for head coaching jobs.
To me, Saleh beats Nagy on personality and leadership style and Hafley on experience. He's reportedly talked to the Ravens, Dolphins and Cardinals. His choice to accept the Titans' offer to come to Nashville so quickly shows he's serious about their opening.
He posted a 20-36 record with the Jets, but worked for perhaps the league's most dysfunctional organization and had Zach Wilson at quarterback before Aaron Rodgers joined and then was quickly injured in his first season. Rodgers had a big bearing on the offensive coordinator he worked for, Nathanial Hackett.
Mike Herndon did a thorough look at all three candidates here.
Another finalist, Kevin Stefanski, signed with the Falcons before he left Atlanta for his meeting with the Titans.
