Moore was helped off the field by Giants punter Jamie Gillan in the first quarter, was carted into the locker room and was announced as out of the game a short while later.

The free-agent acquisition from Houston missed time in the preseason with an injury that never became public.

While Ola Adeniyi was elected by players as the special teams’ captain, Moore was regarded as a top member of the unit as well and his loss will be a significant one for Craig Aukerman and Chase Blackburn.

He played 55 games for the Texans in four years with five starts, playing between 63 and 85 percent of Houston's special team's snaps.
