Tennessee TitansNASHVILLE, Tenn. – Among the prospects the Titans have had to town for their 30 visits with non-locals are several who are predicted to fall in a draft range where the Titans don’t have a pick.

  • Ohio State OL Donovan Jackson (38th on James Foster’s board)
  • William & Mary OT Charles Grant (46)
  • Washington State WR Kyle Williams (47)
  • Texas WR Isaiah Bond (58)
  • UCLA EDGE Femi Oladejo (61)
  • Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson (79)
  • Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson (119)

To facilitate choosing most of those guys without what would appear an overreach from the outside, the Titans will likely need to move back from No. 35 in the second round, turning that pick into two picks, a second and a third.

Mike Borgonzi spoke with me about the idea of dealing back from 35 if the Titans stick and pick at No. 1 at the recent owners meetings.

In 2024, there were seven trades in the second round. All included second-rounders on both sides, all but one came with at least an 87.4 percent return for the “loser” using the Jimmy Johnson trade chart.

Nine teams have two third-rounders and Tennessee has potential matches with several of them.

  • Browns: 67, 94
  • Texans: 79, 89
  • Jaguars: 70, 88
  • Chiefs: 66, 95 – 66 is the pick the Titans send to KC for L’Jarius Sneed
  • Rams: 90, 101
  • Saints: 71, 93
  • Giants: 65, 99
  • 49ers: 75, 100
  • Seahawks: 82, 92

Two good examples: A deal sending 35 to Seattle for No. 50 in the second round and No. 82 in the third would win by 30 points and 4.8 percent. A trade shipping 35 to San Francisco for No. 43 in the second round and No. 100 in the third would win by 20 points and 3.6 percent, but that third-round pick would be just three picks inside the third and give the Titans 100, before 103 and 120 in the fourth.

Something else to monitor as the Titans go on the clock at 35 searching for a deal are teams that will have long pauses starting at them later in the draft. That would focus a bit on what Tennessee has in some potential deals where the Titans might have to give to get.

The Titans have 103 and 120 in the fourth round and 141 and 167 in the fifth.

  • The Texans have no fourth-round pick. They are scheduled to wait 77 spots from 89th in the third until 166th in the fifth.
  • The Bears have no fourth-round pick. They are scheduled to wait 76 spots from 72nd in the third round until 148th in the fifth.
  • The Cowboys have no fourth-round pick. They are scheduled to wait 73 spots from 76th in the third until 149th in the fifth.
  • The Rams have no fifth-round pick. They are scheduled to wait 61 spots from 129th in the fourth to 190th in the sixth.
