This is part three of my deep dive series evaluating the young building blocks on Tennessee’s roster. Over the last two weeks, I’ve broken down JC Latham and Jarvis Brownlee Jr.’s rookie seasons, Next up, T’Vondre Sweat.
Sweat was a bold pick at the top of the second round, but his first season was a resounding success. The conditioning and off-field concerns, which took him off of many teams’ boards, didn’t impact his performance on the field, and he was immediately one of the best run-stopping defensive tackles in the NFL.
While I have doubts about his upside as a pass rusher, I still think a dominant two-down defensive tackle is worth the 38th pick in the modern NFL. The running game is back in style, and offenses are punishing teams with fragile defensive fronts.
