PK TV: Titans' talk ahead of the trip to Houston

Screen Shot 2022 10 26 at 8.02.24 PMNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans are 5-2 and heading to Houston for a game against the Texans, who are one of the worst teams in the NFL at 1-4-1.

Tennessee and Derrick Henry have a habit of running very well against the Texans.

In his last three games against them, he's run for 211 yards and three touchdowns, 212 yards and two touchdowns and 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Houston currently has the NFL's worst rush defense.

The Titans may need to be super run-reliant. Ryan Tannehill's sprained ankle kept him out of practice Wednesday. Let's gather and discuss all the issues around the team and all your questions at this stage of the season.

Head to the private Facebook page or below to rewatch our conversation about all the big issues heading into Sunday's game.

Mike Herndon: A deep dive into the Titans' Bud Dupree

Mike Herndon: A deep dive into the Titans' Bud Dupree

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After missing the better part of four games with a hip injury, Titans outside linebacker Bud Dupree made his return and keyed Tennessee’s dominant defensive showing that overpowered the Colts and ushered out the very brief Matt Ryan era in Indianapolis.

Indy’s quarterback was pressured 19 times on Sunday, tied for most among all NFL passers in Week Seven, with Dupree racking up seven total pressures, including a sack and a quarterback hit according to PFF’s charting.

Dupree has often been under fire during his time in Tennessee due to the expectations that come attached to an $82.5-million contract combined with an inability to stay on the field. In 2021, it was a difficult return from the ACL injury that ended his time with the Steelers. This year it’s been the hip issue.

Mike Vrabel's most recent magic trick for the Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- In the press box, well before the Titans took the field against the Colts, someone asked who would the Titans deploy as their third corner.

The question was a bit as Kristian Fulton, Roger McCreary and Terrance Mitchell had been the top three for a month. I was part of dismissing it.

But sure enough, the Titans threw out a giant wrinkle for their second game against the Colts.

Safety Amani Hooker, who’d not played nickel corner since 2018 at Iowa, moved from safety to nickel when the Titans shifted into the package, with Andrew Adams replacing Hooker at his regular position.

And Adams played 62 of 64 snaps with Mitchell coming on for 24.

Scout's take: Titans force short throws, Jeffery Simmons was everywhere, Austin Hooper emerges

Scout's take: Titans force short throws, Jeffery Simmons was everywhere, Austin Hooper emerges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans pieced together another win.

It sure didn’t look pretty or dominant but is their fourth in a row and completed a series sweep of the Colts.

They scored only one touchdown all game and that was an interception returned by the defense.

The key to the game was coaching and a few critical plays that tilted the outcome in the Titans' favor.

PK TV: Full discussion of Game Two of the Titans' sweep of the Colts

PKColtsNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- So this 4-2 record seemed pretty unlikely after that 0-2 start, but here stand your Tennessee Titans, in complete control of the AFC South.

We should mention that it's a weak division and the Titans did well to pure the Colts into beating themselves, but hey, that's part of the recipe of good teams, and Mike Vrabel teams.

So we gathered to discuss the team's strong win and season sweep over its primary divisional rival.

The Titans did well to rattle Matt Ryan, again, and really showed off their toughness as Ryan Tannehill, Ben Jones and Jeffery Simmons all had to step out with injuries but all returned to see things through.

Ryan Tannehill is better than Matt Ryan and the Titans control the AFC South

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The reasonable doubt about the Titans in the playoffs is their quarterback.

But the reason Tennessee almost assuredly will be in the playoff field as AFC South champions will also be their quarterback.

Ryan Tannehill showed off the distance between him and Matt Ryan, the quarterback of the second-best team in the division at Nissan Stadium in Sunday’s 19-10 win over Indianapolis. The Titans are 4-2, 2-0 in the division with both wins against the Colts.

Indianapolis is 3-3-1, already 1-3-1 in the division.

Titans' Mail: Jon Robinson's standing, new stadium size and Cody Hollister

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Happy weekend party people. I hope you've got a lot of quality stuff ahead of you before the Colts and Titans kick off Sunday afternoon.

It's been a bit since I gathered the mail, so let's sort through it together.

Jon Robinson

If you missed the podcast, I encourage you to check that out. You can find it on iTunes, Google Podcasts and Castbox. I apologize for the technical difficulties right now on Spotify and Sticher.

Russell Jones If we can play hypothetical, let’s say the Titans win the AFC South with a 10-7 record, lose first round of the playoffs. Should Jon Robinson still be on the hot seat for the construction of this roster? And will he be?
