Dylan Cole may be the most improved player on the Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Not long after the street speed limit monitor went into place in his Scottsdale, Ariz, neighborhood in 2020, it became clear to Dylan Cole what he had to do: Race against it.

“It took me a long time to figure out how to get that thing to work,” he said. “I’m next to a school out there. I saw it and I’ve always wanted to run on one of those, I thought I could hit 22 miles an hour.

"But it was about 26 reps before I even got the thing to work. It took a while before it was able to pick me up. I’m not a car. You have to start a little slower so It can sort of gauge you.”

Soccer possible at new Titans' stadium, maybe even with grass

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans' new enclosed stadium which could open as soon as 2026 will have a field big enough for soccer matches and come with a long-term vision for installing dirt and grass to host even the world’s biggest matches.

That’s too late to help Nashville for the 2026 World Cup, which passed on Nashville as a venue.

U.S. Soccer doesn’t play much on artificial turf, but it can.

“We would always consider playing matches in a new venue," said Neil Buethe, its chief communications officer. “We’d obviously want to do our own site visit, and prefer to play on natural grass.” [Unlocked]

Mike Herndon: Answers to Titans' passing woes are not simple

Mike Herndon: Answers to Titans' passing woes are not simple

By MIKE HERNDON, columnist

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Through the first eight games of the 2022 season, the Titans have passed for just 1,090 yards, an average of just 136.3 per game. That total is the third-fewest for a team in its first eight games in the last decade, only topped in their aerial futility by the 2021 and 2022 Bears.

Mike Vrabel’s squad is currently on pace to go down as the least prolific passing offense of the Tennessee era of the franchise, which is a tough mark to beat for a team that has been as allergic to the forward pass as the Titans have over the last 25 years.Malik Willis

Malik Willis’ second straight start continued the season-long theme as the Titans mustered just 57 total passing yards in Kansas City. Tennessee’s defense and run game are each championship caliber, and even the special teams have taken a big step forward in 2022, but until they can figure out how to inject life into the passing attack, Tennessee's ceiling will remain nothing more than a stylistic pest to top teams like the Chiefs and Bills.

So what is going wrong with the offense and is it fixable during the 2022 season?

Why can the Titans plug-and-play on defense but not offense?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – We’ve raved and raved about the Titans’ plug-and-play ability.

But boy does it slant to one side of the ball when it comes to production.

Sunday in the overtime loss to Kansas City, relatively new players on defense were significant contributors to a major defensive effort. Not so with the offense.

PK TV: Big chat about the Titans' fail against the Chiefs

Screen Shot 2022 11 07 at 7.36.08 PMNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After a butchered travel day, I returned to town and took the usual post-game chat from too-late Sunday to halftime of Monday Night Football.

Without Ryan Tannehill, the Titans put up a valiant fight in Kansas City. But there are no moral victories for a team of the Titans' standing and they came home with plenty to regret and consider.

The weak AFC South still gives them a comfortable lead in the division at 5-3 and puts them fourth in the conference. If the playoffs started now they'd host the 6-3 Jets in a Wild Card round game.

Let's gather to discuss Malik Willis' second start, the weak showing by his receivers, another strong game by Derrick Henry who didn't get the ball enough and an excellent game by the defense which ultimately couldn't stand up to Patrick Mahomes.

Kindly head to the private Facebook page or below to rewatch.

Scouts take: Dissecting what the Titans did in Kansas City

Scouts take: Dissecting what the Titans did in Kansas City

By BLAKE BEDDINGFIELD, special correspondent

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans had won ugly over the previous three weeks, but against a good team like the Chiefs that wasn’t good enough.

They needed playmakers.

The Titans had a simple game plan on both sides of the ball and were able to hold the lead for most of the game.

But the better quarterback, in Patrick Mahomes, and the better overall team, in the Chiefs, were able to finish on top.

The wide receiver issue killed the Titans in Kansas City

The wide receiver issue killed the Titans in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – They were hardly targeted, which was not that far outside of expectations.

The Titans are as far from wide receiver-reliant as a 2020 NFL team can be. And when their moments came, they showed just what you get in exchange for such de-emphasis.

Their failures felt like an awakening, or at least an admission.

It started with a pregame quote to ESPN’s Ed Werder in a Saturday phone call, carried into a game in which they caught zero passes -- missing two monstrous chances -- and continued in the postgame conversation after a 20-17 overtime loss to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
